THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH @DEMESTRIDESIGNSTUDIO
‘’The relationship between humans and artificial intelligences is advancing at an accelerated pace, driven by a globalized world where instant responses are increasingly demanded. However, this progress is not limited to the enhancement of tools; it redefines how human thought is structured, approaching a process of cognitive co-construction.
Once seen merely as a source of quick answers, synthetic intelligence reveals a much deeper potential when explored with intention. It is expanding human cognition in ways previously unimaginable.
AI is no longer just a machine that responds - it is an interface that reflects, structures, and enhances thought, transforming interaction into a space for co-creation. ’’ (Cognition Beyond Biology: How AI Is Reshaping Thought / Blog | The Inner Lens )
Well, this was the first ever article I wrote about my experience with AI, back in March 2025, and now, a bit more than 1 year later, I come back with new visions and perspectives to share.
I must say that none of my ideas are set in stone, I have been reformulating the human relationship with AI so many times through this months that my intention here is simply to open a conscious space for it and allow ourselves to question our relationship to this non-human-human era that is in front of us. There is no way back, let’s talk this through!
This new era moves fast. Faster than the human brain can follow, leading us to a train that moves faster than life is capable of integrating itself. Increasing the sense that there is no time left, we are all falling behind whilst yet, human as society never developed in greater speed.
There are two social currents that I have been observing lately: AI is giving ignorant - as in its original sense - people the power to produce before they allow time to fully elaborate thinking. Anyone can become a master in a matter of minutes, and any idea will be transformed to the best world idea before even crossing the line of a complete thought; A small but crescent group is burning out from what is artificial and waving to what is local, human connected and community based. Social media is becoming more private, and we are re-learning how to human again. ‘’Let the humans, human again’’ I’ve read!!
In fact, although controversial, these two movements are complementary expressions of the same underlying transformation, and it is a waste of time to discuss whether it is good or evil once it is here to stay. Reality can not be undone!
As mentioned in my previous article, we are witnessing ‘‘God’s’’ murder again whilst pushing for the existence of the super-super man, something that is felt bigger, and smarter and faster than we could ever be.
The crucial questioning to everything that is starting is ‘’how are we gonna settle this relationship, and what boundaries must be taken place?’’ ‘’how are we gonna allow it to impact our lives?’’
Mostly importantly, is to discuss how the relationship with this synthetic layer of *thinking* can affect humanity moving forward, and how are we gonna preserve what really matters, separating what is human, gold and evolving, and what is a mirror and extension of the same existence (?).
The bless? Only the appearance of an external object - Artificial Intelligence - can emerge inside us a clear distinction of what is human vs. non-human, allowing us to add deeper layers of values to what we are really made of, strengthening our social, cosmic and human subjectivity. Explained by multiple psychoanalysis theories -Winnicott, Ronald Britton, Lacan, etc- without a third point reference, the distinction between self and others remains blurred.
The curse? A pace faster than ever, increasing the sense of being left behind and stimulating massive production for the sake of filling a new space. A narcissistic tool made to please and ease to a society economically unstable, with over-stimulated brains and incapable of sitting in the discomfort of an unfilled space. The evident urge to fill the gap, to be seen and to read the room before we are even able to sit comfortably in it.
What happens when we choose dynamics that only friction us to an inward movement? What happens when we despise the plurality of being and rush it into massive production? What happened to Narciso in his myth after discovering and becoming obsessed with his own reflection?
Seed being planted. Antagonism is never the answer. We must enlighten the shadows in order to integrate (Carl Jung), and integrating means finding a harmonious balance to live within, without repressing what the facts that can’t be erased from our timeline.
Artificial Intelligence is for sure a new layer of thought, expanding meanings into a synthetic web of view. A possibility to connect dots within. A data processor. A resource for those who felt uneasy with support. A blank page to be explored - and questioned! And as everything in life, what separates the medicine from the poison, is the dosage.
Much more in the horizon comes to expand our consciousness, and we shall not be afraid of it but instead we can learn to control the power of it, and use past experiences to shape how we are gonna allow this brand new dynamic of the human and extra-human to evolve. The answer? Critical thinking and pattern recognition, the latest trending self-aware subject.
If we stop looking at the micro -our individual history- and expand our critical vision to macro -our society history- we are able to identify, for sure, multiple patterns with grown roots in it. Year after year. Centuries after centuries. Myths after myths, and yet, shaped from the same dough -humanity- we carry the same ancient mistakes, and desires.
To create. To be seen. To be unique.
Creativity is an irreplaceable human super power, it is the catalytic source behind everything we have accomplished as a species. No other being, or synthetic form of creation can substitute this force that moves who we are with greater meaning. Creativity has gotten us much further than any other human skills, and it is the elementary motion for resilience and transformation.
It’s through the expression of the self, that we find ways to exist in this world. We externalize our voice, our visions and the meaning that only us can attribute to our existence. We produce to be seen.
It’s the uniqueness we crave that worries me. Our egoistic trait to be special and the desire to live on a pedestal - that as in a matter of speaking, it is not a fair place for anyone to be. We are made to believe that we deserve nothing but the best, and yet, the best has never been so distant. Utopia!! Constantly changing.
If we are all made from the same dough, come from the same species? What then, separates the mundane from the others? How to feel unique? What word do we use to describe what is reserved to few only? Rare. Possessing what is scarce reinforces our sense of uniqueness and distinction, powering our egos high up from the others.
If we allow creation to be fully outsourced, what will happen to what makes us all what we are? What will happen if we keep ignoring old patterns and permit ourselves to enter into this new world era following the same egoistic instincts fed generations after generations? What will happen if nobody has the time to stop for a moment, or if we lose the capacity of containment? To question and exchange with one another, and critically think, and most importantly, to respect the process of creation?
The same brain that has the power to expand, has the power to shrink. Neuroplasticity is a two-way street, if not stimulated, challenged or allowed human time for processing, we might lose the creative enlightenment we possess and drive us to darker times.
And now that everybody has the access to shallow creations, and are driven by the hunger and urgency to fill a gap that is bigger than the century we live, why is it that we see an increasingly elite movement of preserving for them only, what is human and outstanding, such as time for creation, a slow life and privacy? What will we become if we allow the robbery of our power-source?
It may be time to turn the question back on ourselves and explore visions: what are we truly serving? And what need, desire, or fear is this serving within us? And to keep in mind, the dosage. The capacity for containment. Growing outwards, and with others. Plurality. Resilience. The creative process demands time for completion.
Stay curious... I see you on the next thought,
Carol Tomazela
